Blue collar workers have been building America since this country began. Their roots go all the way back to the skilled craftsmen, tradesmen, farmers, and laborers of the Colonial Era. As America grew, they built the railroads, factories, bridges, roads, cities, and the infrastructure that helped turn this country into what it is today.

The term “blue collar” became popular in the early 1900s because hardworking men and women wore durable blue work shirts and denim that could last long days on the job and help cover up grease, dirt and grimd. Over time, “blue collar” became more than just the clothes they wore. It became a symbol of hard work, pride, skill, sacrifice, and the people who build and keep this country running.

The work blue collar men and women do is something you can actually see. They build homes, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, power plants, water systems, factories, office buildings, and just about everything else we use every day.

There aren’t many careers where you can travel anywhere in America, point at something, and honestly say, “I helped build that.” Blue collar workers can.

One of the things I respect most about blue collar workers is that it doesn’t matter where you came from, what the color of your skin is, what language you speak at home, or how much money you have. On a jobsite, none of that builds a house, fixes a water main, runs an excavator, or restores the power after a storm. What matters is showing up, working hard, learning your trade, and taking pride in doing the job right.

The truth is simple: Without blue collar workers, America doesn’t work.

No roads to drive on. No bridges to cross. No electricity. No clean water. No natural gas. No airports. No homes. No schools. No hospitals. No offices. The work that millions of people rely on and take for granted every single day starts with someone willing to get their hands dirty and put in an honest day’s work.

That’s why blue collar workers deserve more respect than they often receive. They don’t ask for recognition. They just show up every day and get the job done.

So to every blue collar brother and sister out there:

Stand tall.

Be proud of what you do.

Hold your head high.

Because this country wouldn’t be what it is without you.

America thanks you.

1. To design and sell  blue collar themed shirts and apparel that shows appreciation for blue collar workers and takes pride in our industries 

AND 

2. To represent the people who build this country and become their voice. 

Every design we make is meant to say something. It’s for the people who take pride in working with their hands, who don’t mind getting dirty, and who understand that nothing gets built without someone willing to do the work.
